This is the amusing incident from the life of ANN ROGERS that I referred to in my brief Life Sketch of ANN.
The Mouse-Flavored Butter
By Ann Rogers Snow
This story was told by Ann while she was running this store:
A woman brought a pound of butter to Ann and said, ‘A mouse got into my cream, and I just couldn’t bear to waste all that cream, so I churned it anyway. Here is the pound. Now will you just take this pound into your back room, remove the paper off my pound and put someone else’s butter in it? Then give me that pound of butter and you can sell my pound to someone else. They’ll never know the difference, and what they don’t know won’t hurt them.
Ann took the woman’s pound of butter into the cool room and waited a few minutes. Then she returned with the same pound and handed it to the woman as if it were a new pound. Upon giving the woman her own pound of mouse-flavored butter, Ann remarked, "You’re right Sister, What they don’t know won’t hurt them."
(NOTE: The story about the butter was told to Wanda Snow Petersen by Ann’s grand daughter, Bess Snow of St. George in the Summer of 1990 and was included in her book William Snow, First Bishop of Pine Valley, p.158)

This story tells us something about the character of ANN ROGERS. She was not about to do a disservice to a customer by participating in a deception. (FAY)
